Raspberry Turnovers (13)

As the weather gets colder, who wouldn’t mind a perfect cup of coffee or tea  with a perfect, sweet, fancy, delicious puff pastry? That’s right, fancy pastry. Its pretty time-consuming to make a puff pastry dough from  scratch. I buy it from the store. It saves hours of work, and it is ready in no time. Perfect for the fancy holiday table, and a big lifesaver if you have unexpected guests. Are you ready for this?

Cut the puff pastry dough in squares (I buy it in Cash ‘n Carry store already pre-cut)

Then cut the squares in half diagonally. Place  raspberry filling or any of your favorite fillings (apple, apricot, strawberry) on each piece of dough. Brush the edges of the dough with the egg wash (1 egg+1 tbsp. water)

Fold the dough over and seal. You can press with your fingers. I like to use fork.

Arrange pastries on a parchment lined baking sheet, and brush them with the egg wash.

Bake at 350 degrees  for 20-25 min until golden.

Let cool on the cooling rack. Sprinkle with the powdered sugar, and there you have it. Aren’t they irresistible?

Coffee anyone?

I’m so glad you liked the recipe. This simple way of making turnovers has been a real lifesaver for me when I needed a fresh good tasting dessert that didn’t required much time to cook. The store-bought stuff just doesn’t compare.
