My kids love popcorn. They usually munch on it while watching a movie on Friday or Saturday night. I used to buy bags of popcorn, pop the bag into a microwave, and there you have it, simple as that. The only things that have bothered me are the smell, and the ingredient list on those popcorn bags. The moment bag of popcorn went into a microwave, the smell of artificial butter flavoring along with some other chemicals started to smell like puke when heated. I just couldn’t stand it, end of story.
Not very long ago, I came across one article, explaining how dangerous popcorn in a bag could be for our health. First of all, the inside of the bag is coated with some sort of acid that is also found in Teflon pots and pans, and has been linked to infertility, cancer and other diseases. Let alone all the artificial flavorings that are so unhealthy as well. Do I need to continue? For me, that was enough facts to forever forget about bagged popcorn, and to find a different way of making it. I’m so happy to share this No Microwave Popcorn Recipe with all of you. This method takes only 5 minutes, vs. bagged popcorn takes 3 +1/2 minutes. You don’t need any special equipment, just a pan with a lid, and 3 ingredients! For the popcorn, try to choose organic or non-GMO kernels. And you’ll end up with the healthy, good tasting, and good smelling snack for everyone to enjoy. Happy Cooking!
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup popcorn kernels
- 3 tablespoons coconut oil
- 1/4 teaspoon sea salt
Over high heat, preheat a large pan with 3 tablespoons coconut oil. Reduce heat to medium-high, and add popcorn kernels.

Popcorn is done when the popping sounds have stopped. Season with salt.
Enjoy!

YAY!! This is great. I had NO idea how easy it was to make popcorn this way, until my Italian hubby showed me. Anyway….it is soooo easy and apart from the health issue, the taste is so superior too! Oh…and much cheaper! Great post!
